🎃👻 When Ohio ACTE Executive Director Dee Smith visited our campus Tuesday, she didn't just observe, she fully embraced our Halloween spirit! 🧡🖤 We invited her to join in on the fun and she arrived in costume and ready to dive into our in-demand program labs and engage with students. 📚🏗️🤖 This visit was an exciting opportunity to showcase our commitment to career and technical education. We're delighted to have Dee Smith and Ohio ACTE's support as we continue to push the boundaries of what's possible in our program labs. #PRCTCProud #PRCTCWorks #CareerTechOhio #OhioACTE

Late last night, an anonymous tip was received through the Ohio Safer Schools Helpline, alerting the administration of a video circulating on social media that showed a student in the parking lot after school, with his friends, and at one point the student seemed to show off an item that resembled a weapon in his waistband. Even though no direct threat was made to students or staff in the video, we take these incidents extremely seriously. The safety and well-being of our students and staff are of paramount importance, prompting us to initiate a thorough investigation without delay. Upon receiving the tip, we immediately engaged in the necessary investigative procedures to verify the authenticity and accuracy of the reported incident. Recognizing the seriousness of the matter, local law enforcement was promptly informed. In collaboration with the authorities, we took proactive steps to ensure the safety of the entire school community. We were able to easily identify the students involved and make immediate contact with their families and partner districts and began the investigation and disciplinary process. Beyond notifying the appropriate personnel and families of those involved, the district will continue to work with our School Resource Officer and local law enforcement to conduct a thorough assessment of the situation, and we are fully cooperating with their efforts to ascertain the facts. While the nature of the item in question seems to be a replica of a weapon after initial investigation, Pickaway-Ross remains resolute in its commitment to the safety of its students and staff, and appropriate disciplinary actions have and will be taken as deemed necessary per the student code of conduct and Ohio Revised Code once the investigation is completed. The students will not be permitted on school grounds until a final determination has been made. "Pickaway-Ross holds the safety and security of our students and staff as our highest priority," stated Jonathan Davis, Superintendent. “We are grateful for the vigilance of our students and community members in reporting potential concerns and, even though it was late into the night, everyone worked hard to ensure that all our students would continue to remain safe. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of open communication and collaboration in maintaining a safe educational environment.” We wish to extend our gratitude to the Ohio Safer Schools Helpline for providing a platform through which concerned individuals can come forward with information. Their role in this situation demonstrates the effectiveness of such systems in enhancing the safety of educational institutions. Pickaway-Ross Career & Technology Center remains steadfast in its commitment to nurturing a secure and conducive learning environment for all students. We will continue to work diligently to ensure that our campus remains a safe space for educational and personal growth.
